Different Coffee Services for Different Occasions

Coffee is such a popular beverage worldwide and you and I might think that it's simply a matter of pouring it into a cup. But there's actually a thing called coffee etiquette which can give you guidelines on how certain types of coffee must be taken or served.

Coffee service basically comes in two types, the formal and informal. Different occasions point to which type of service may be used.

Informal coffee service is typically used for luncheon meeting, informal family or social reunions and even dinners. Coffee is usually prepared ahead of time, usually in bulk, and made available for everyone either in a separate area or a particular serving table in a room. The cups, sugar and creamer are also on hand buffet style, and each can simply come up and prepare a cup to drink. The hostess may also opt to prepare and serve coffee to her guests personally. She can do this by pouring coffee into cups already set on the dinner table, while the guests take charge of the sugar and cream to suit their individual tastes.

Formal occasions demand a different type of coffee service. Usually there are servers taking charge of this and they are usually assigned tables to wait on. As each guest finishes up on his meal, the plates are taken away and the servers ask the guest for their individual coffee preference. Coffee is then prepared and served as requested. Some guests specify the amount of cream or sugar to accompany their coffee, while others may request to have these brought to the table for them to do it themselves. The formal type of service offers a nice personal touch to the guests, as it gives them a feeling that they are special.

Coffee is usually served in three different coffee cup sizes, and the type of coffee served or when it is served during the day dictates which coffee cup type is to be used. Demitasse or the very small coffee cups are used to serve espresso or strong coffee after formal dinners. Medium sized coffee cups or tea cups are used for coffee served after informal meals, while large cups or mugs are typically for breakfast or more informal gatherings.

Your Friendly, Tabletop Coffee Brewer is Bialetti Brikka 4

Italian brewers are considered the best brewers when it comes to coffee, since they turn out the most interesting blends. They produce cups of coffee with the right amount of bitterness, crema and the perfect aroma. And because of this, Italian coffee blends are usually imitated in coffee shops, and they are very much sought after.

One brand that is known and respected among the world of coffee and espresso making would be Bialetti. This is an industry that produces items that offer high-end quality and full-power functionality. They have customers all around the world, and they ship over 200 million units to various places of the world, making them a very good supplier of equipment related to coffee and espresso making.

One of Bialleti's durable and good quality espresso machines is the Bialetti Brikka 4-Cup Stovetop Percolator. Aside from the promise of good Italian blend coffee, the machine promises to be really easy to use.

Amidst all the expensive espresso machines that are available around the world, Italians would still prefer the espresso produced by stovetop espresso makers and most Italians use Biatelli as their stovetop Italian coffee. It has ever since been part of the traditional eight-side household coffee ritual Italians often do.

With sturdy aluminum construction, the Bialetti is a product that actually improves with constant use. The unit is extremely simple to use. Just fill the lower chamber with water and the filter with ground espresso coffee. Place the pot on the stove and heat until the water boils. As it does, the liquid espresso moves to the upper chamber of the pot, ready to be poured into an awaiting espresso cup.

All in all, the Brikka works well as an espresso maker and it is further enhanced by the fact that it could churn out 4 cups of quality espresso per serving.

Grind and Brew Coffee Makers From Cuisinart

Grind and Brew coffee machines are really useful kitchen machines which allow you to have your daily coffee fix in a remarkably well-flavored way. Forget all the chemical coffee-replacements you use at home right now; once you try the coffee coming from a Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffee machine, you'll be astonished at how much flavor one cup of coffee can contain.

In any case scenario, freshly brewed coffee triumphs over stale coffee made from month old pads or powder, this really is no question, and using a professional coffee machine at home gives you the possibility to make your coffee exactly as you like it, fine-tuned to the grind and water temperature, so that every cup will be tasty and wonderful, just as it should be.

Have you ever thought about how long pads in bags have to stay on shelves until someone buys them? Or even in the back of a big truck? What's the rush for them anyways since nobody really knows how old they are? Pre-ground coffee powder looses all of its flavor really rapidly, and there is no way to prevent this. The only thing you can do is make fresh coffee, and this can only be done with whole beans which you crush and grind to powder and you'll have to use that powder immediately if you want to retain all of the coffee's flavor. This is exactly what the Cuisinart Grind and Brew was designed for, it's a very advanced and highly-adjustable coffee maker which can be adapted to every one of your wishes.

Coffee Grinders Blade Vs Burr

For coffee connoisseurs that drink only the finest brews, every step in the process is important, from choosing only the finest beans, to the roasting process and even the proper grinder used to grind the beans. Surprisingly, the grinding process can have a significant effect on the quality of the final cup of coffee. In general, the finer the grounds the stronger the brew. It is also important to have the correct type of coffee grounds for specific coffee makers.

Blade Coffee Grinders

Many of the less expensive grinders are blade grinders (sometimes called chopping grinders). These devices consist of blades, spinning at high speed, which chop the beans into finer and finer bits. The grinding is not uniform, and usually the final product ranges from medium sized particles to fine dust. This can cause problems as the fine dust can clog most standard paper filters. Another problem with blade grinders is that the blades can become very hot when they spin and can cause the beans to take on a slightly bitter "burnt" flavor. One side benefit of blade grinders though is that they can also be used to grind nuts and other food items.

Burr Coffee Grinders

Although the majority of homes have a blade grinder, burr coffee grinders are preferred by connoisseurs. Burr grinders do not use blades, but revolving grinders that rotate at a much slower speed than the blade on a blade coffee grinder, thus avoiding heat buildup. It is also possible to control the grind of the coffee from course to fine with a Burr grinder, so the coffee can better match the type of coffee maker.

Other Methods of Grinding Coffee Beans

Blade and Burr grinders are by far the most popular methods of grinding coffee, but there are other methods. For example, Turkish coffee, a thick and strong, specialty coffee is made by brewing water and extremely fine coffee powder together. The ground coffee isn't filtered, but served in the cup with the brew (usually the coffee is allowed to sit for a bit so the grounds can settle to the bottom). Normal coffee grinders can't grind coffee this fine, so the coffee is ground by using a mortar and pestle to get the extremely fine powder that is necessary.
